This development board rocks an ESP-WROOM-32 sub-module containing Tensilica Xtensa® Dual-Core 32-bit LX6 microprocessor. This processor has two CPU cores and can be individually controlled by the user, This processor operates at 240 MHz max clock frequency which is suitable for high-speed applications. And the user can adjust the clock frequency between 80 to 240 MHz according to his needs and this sub-module performs at up to 600 DMIPS [Dhrystone Million Instructions Per Second].
Hardware specifications of ESP-WROOM-32 sub-module:
Xtensa® Dual-Core 32-bit LX6 processor,
Up to 240MHz adjustable Clock Frequency,
Has built-in 520kB internal SRAM,
Has 4MB of Flash memory [for program and data storage] which can handle large amounts of data like an advanced IoT device does,
IEEE 802.11b/g/n based Wi-Fi transceiver,
And also embedded with Bluetooth 4.2/BLE technology,
This ESP32 Integrates 802.11b/g/n HT40 Wi-Fi transceiver, Therefore it can not only connect to a WiFi network but also interact with the Internet.
Not only that you as a user can also set up a network of your own or the ESP32 does the same thing automatically by itself, allowing other devices to connect directly to it.
This ESP32 supports WiFi Direct as well, which is a great option for peer-to-peer connection without the need for an access point.
The WiFi Direct is easier to set up and the data throughput is much better than the Bluetooth.
The sub-module also has dual-mode Bluetooth capabilities, meaning it supports both Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE/Bluetooth Smart) and Bluetooth Classic (BT), making it even more versatile.
ESP32 main module’s Hardware Specifications:
Feature’s an onboard ESP-WROOM-32 sub-module,
Has extra 448 KB of onboard ROM,
- The same USB-to-serial programming interface also provides power supply for the board
- The two onboard pushbuttons are for reset and activation of Firmware Download mode
Power Supply Options
There are three exclusive ways to deliver power to the board:
- Micro USB port, default power supply
- 5V / GND header pins
- 3V3 / GND header pins
